Laser Operator

Norland International is looking for a Laser Operator. The Laser Operator has primary responsibility for all set-ups and production runs, ensuring safety, accuracy, and timeliness of all jobs, machines, and equipment in the Laser area. Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities to be Considered Qualified for the Position:

  • Experience in machine operation
  • Ability to use calipers and other precision measuring tools
  • Cooperation and ability to work as a team and independently
  • Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Familiarity with sheet metal and sheet metal flat patterns

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set-up, adjust and prepare laser jobs. Set-up includes but is not limited to:
  • Finding proper tooling per set up.
  • Check the heights of tooling and adjust.
  • Set-up and adjustment of material.
  • Locate and upload proper program from machine control.
  • Ensure optimal laser cutting conditions.
  • Provide immediate feedback, to supervisor on jobs not meeting set-up and/or production standards.
  • Work with engineering and operations to ensure finished products are produced in the safest, effective manner, while maintaining high quality control standards.
  • De-burring parts with file or grinder, as needed.
  • Responsible for to properly packaging, identifying, and moving all finished products to the proper location.
  • Ensure all equipment, and area, is properly set-up in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use.
  • Performs set-up inspections, first piece inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required by QA standards.
  • Monitor equipment and tool wear and request external maintenance when required.
  • Perform simple machine maintenance and repair as required.
  • Work with supervisor, Programmer/Mfg. Engineer, and engineering to make constant improvements in tooling, programs and lean activities.
  • Operate forklift, as needed.

Press Brake Operator

Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities to be Considered Qualified for the Position

  1. Authorized to work in the United States without Company sponsorship
  2. Ability to work extended hours, overtime as needed
  3. Possess critical thinking skills and ability to both take direction as well as work independently without constant supervision.
  4. Moderate to advance level mechanical ability and hand-eye coordination.
  5. Possess the ability to learn how to read prints and efficiently translate such plans to actionable work.
  6. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job. Frequently lift up to 100 pounds, stand for long periods of time, reach, stoop, twist, turn, kneel, bend, and climb.
  7. Good driving record and ability to obtain mobile equipment/fork truck operating license.
  8. Intermediate to advanced mechanical fabrication skills
  9. Experienced in the identification and electronic filing of controlled documents so as to facilitate retrieval.
  10. Capacity to visualize opportunity and drive improvement of method and process. Strong foundation towards mathematics.
  11. Positive, "Can-Do" attitude, having the ability to work effectively with others as the leader, but effective member, of a team.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Associates degree in technical, precision machining, or tool and die field.
  2. Proven history as a fabricator or machine builder.
  3. Proven/seasoned competencies relative to fabrication of metals, machining, welding, wiring and print reading.
  4. Problem Solving Skills: Press brake operators will need to know why machines are not at peak performance, how to increase output and how to fix errors.
  5. Previous work history in industrial manufacturing setting.
  6. Background in some manner of mechanical, electrical, fabrication or industrial maintenance skilled trades
  7. Mechanical and Technical Skills: Machines controlled by computers will need operators who understand CAD/CAM technology.
  8. Mathematical competency enabling problem solving, advanced level data analysis and application of quality management systems practices.
  9. Attention to Detail: Press brakes are precision equipment. Being off by millimeters could be a critical error. Keen attention to detail is required.

Essential Functions of Job Under The Direction of Production Leadership:

  1. Read and comprehend dimensional analysis provided within prints.
  2. Setup and document tooling and safe practices for Press Brake operations.
  3. Verify accuracy of machine settings to confirm accurate tolerances and machine functions.
  4. Operators will be required to maintain accurate parts and motivation on routine repetitive jobs.
  5. During operations Operator will be required to maintain cleanliness of the machine and area.
  6. In-process checks will be required by the operator to maintain all required tolerances and quality.
  7. Completes all required safety procedures prior to and during operations.
  8. Responsible for operation, proving programs, operating controls, setting all machine functions, deburring, and inspection of parts to assure conformance will be required.
  9. Skilled in organizing work area before and after parts are processed, stacking completed parts properly on blocks or pallet to eliminate double handling and working efficiently and safely.
  10. Detects equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine within capabilities. Reports all machine malfunctions to Management.
  11. Communicates with management, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
  12. Forklift experience needed.
  13. May perform other duties as assigned by management.

Assembly Technician

Norland International, a manufacturer of premium bottled water equipment, is working to fill an Assembly Technician position. Norland is located in Lincoln, NE. Norland is a fast-paced, team-oriented, results-driven business where everyone wants the best for each other and the company.

Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities to be Considered Qualified for the Position

  • Although primarily a week-day, day-shift position, individual must have the ability to work extended hours, overtime as needed.
  • Ability to take and follow direction.
  • Able to read a tape measure to the 1/16".
  • Ability to comprehend electrical prints and diagrams.
  • Ability to identify commonly used fasteners and tools.
  • Basic to moderate knowledge of the flow of electricity.
  • Basic to moderate level of mechanical ability and hand-eye coordination.
  • Possess the ability to learn how to read build prints and efficiently translate such prints.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 30 pounds unassisted, stand for long periods of time, reach, stoop, twist, turn, kneel, bend, and climb ladders and step stools.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven work history as a fabricator or machine builder.
  • Moderate to high level of mechanical, electrical, and fabricating aptitude.
  • Background in some manner of mechanical, electrical, fabrication or industrial maintenance skilled trades.

Essential Functions of Job Under The Direction of Production Leadership:

  • Read and comprehend dimensional build prints.
  • Safely assemble equipment following the SOP/print, or given directions, while reaching the metric goal and quality standards.
  • Work with your assigned build team to achieve area goals.
  • Submits ECRs, BOM change requests, and daily metric sheets.
  • Maintains communication with leaders to address safety concerns, problems with the build, or inventory/BOM inaccuracies.
  • Following safe practices, physically moves and or positions equipment within build area.
  • Maintains a cleanliness score of a minimum of 3 consistently.
  • Assists with regular end-of-day routine.
  • Follow Norland's safety protocols. Including but not limited to: HazCom/SDS maintenance, Forklift/Boom safety, and General Housekeeping.
  • Any other tasks as required to fulfill Norland's Core Values.
